Industry: Global Travel and Logistics
Situation
We brought Vip (and his team at Distinctive Performance) half way through the construction phase on the Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal Project (CPCT) at Hong Kong International Airport. CPCT represents a state-of-the-art cargo handling facility; and a significant investment by Cathay Pacific (HKD 5.5 Billion) in maintaining itself and Hong Kong as a global aviation and airfreight hub.
At the stage Vip was brought into the project, the project was struggling to cope with the commercial and contractual differences between Cathay Pacific, its main JV contractor and the Materials Handling System (MHS) vendor. What impressed me the most was the speed at which Distinctive Performance was able to impact the escalation of negativity between the parties. A key outcome out of the interventions was an elevation of responsible leadership.
Impact and Results
People walked out of the work sessions being clear that they were fully responsible for the environment they were creating; and the results they were producing. Through the Field Consulting, momentum was brought to long-standing issues with the result that the Project was completed on time and within budget.
Final accounts between all parties and other Contractors were settled within 4 months of Project Completion. Distinctive Performance (Vip Vyas) played an important part in putting this Project back on track, such that each of the three parties successfully achieved their main aims on this Project.
